Garth Brooks Named Top-Selling Artist of Past Two Decades-Country Music Is Love
Billboard and Nielson Soundscan recently released a report of the ten top-selling artists of the past twenty years, and Garth Brooks tops the list.
Brooks' sales exceed 68.5 million, which beats out the second-place Beatles by over 5 million. Mariah Carey comes in third with 53.6 million.
George Strait (6th), Tim McGraw (8th), and Alan Jackson (9th) also represented country music with 43 million, 40 million, and 38 million respectively.

Soundscan has only been used since 1991, so Brooks may not be the best-selling artist of all time, but it’s a good indicator of his popularity in the past two decades.
This is another victory for Garth, who was recently awarded $1 million in a court case to dispute the misappropriation of funds he donated in honor of his mother.
